2 weeks ago some ladies in The Moms Club did an empowering thing.
They got in front of a camera for them, to celebrate them. They didn't do this for family pictures, they didn't have professional hair & makeup and it wasn’t because they had to showcase certain attire.
They did this for THEM.
This is HUGE and let's just applaud that before we go any further... (Clapping loudly)
How often do we look in the mirror and the first thing we pick out is something that we don’t like. Those big hips, the muffin top or how large our thighs are… These are mine, wait... these WERE mine!
The women took the opportunity to celebrate their success and to be proud of who they are and we can all take some lessons from that.
These ladies have been working hard on THEM. Trust me when I say, I know how hard it is to put yourself first. Trying to get a workout in can be difficult, making healthier meals not just for them but for the family is HUGE. Everyone has different goals and different areas where they want to grow and WE celebrate every success TOGETHER as a community.
As mothers, recognition from others does not come as often or as much as it should. To show up everyday not just for you but for the family, coworkers, friends, pets…. whatever, is commendable because it’s so easy to put US on the backburner.
Glennon Doyle says it best in her book Untamed- (if you have not yet read this, it’s a must)
“We do not need any more selfless women, what we need right now is more women who are full of themselves. A woman who is full of only herself no longer internalizes the world’s memos and expectations. A women who is full of herself, knows and trusts herself enough to say and do what must be done and lets the rest burn”
That right there deserves a mic drop…
So ladies, my advice to you is to go look in the mirror and say three things you love about YOU. Ask yourself what makes YOU happy, what do YOU love to do and then make some time to do it. Don’t settle for anything less that what YOUR heart desires!
Now, go share your awesomeness with the world!
